Spazio is a concept of a multifunctional robot able to sweep and wash by it self.Designed for areas of medium / small dimensions, up to 500 square meters.It's a combination between the domestic robot and the industrial machinery. It designed for the maintenance of all areas that requires frequent and accurate cleaning, like: showrooms, shops, offices, hotels etc..The variety of floor present in these tipe of places includes very delicate surfaces as well. The dirt to be removed is mostly a dirt that deposits daily. Consequently, the cleaning action shouldn't be very aggressive but it must be steady.The small dimensions of the machine are the result of the compromise between the study of space and the agility needs necessary for the robot be able to move in the space. Infact, for the evaluation of the total volumes we considered the most common obstacles such as tables, doors, fences, etc...
Spazio is a system composed of a driving part and two interchangeable modules: one for washing and one for sweeping. Both modules reside within a "base" which host all refueling, discharge and power charge sistems, and makes the switch of the driving part from one module to another. It is possible through a "overhead crane" system that moves in two directions.The driving part includes: a sensor system intiligente system, batteries and motor wheel. The both modules contain the two missing wheels and all the necessary components for make their function.

WATER SAVEThe washing module is characterized by a single washing brush composed of microfiber pad. Its high rotation and the abrasive action allow saving water and at the same time a deep cleaning. A small drop is easily distributed by the rotation on the entire brush keeping it constantly moistened. The reduction in the quantity of water implies a smaller quantity of detergent and a small size of tanks. Thanks to this technology the tanks will contain 16L of water and 19L of water recovery.

This project was developed as the last task in the course of Design & Engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan in colaboration with my colleagues: Valerio Fausti, Giampietro Lorenzon, Stefania Merelli and Rany Sharara.
