ForFuture is a concept design for an autonomous electric rail vehicle intended for passenger transportation in smart cities. Its unique technical solution for connecting individual vehicles enables further conceptual advancements, such as the design of the chassis platform, drive and power supply systems, and autonomous operation capabilities, among others. The vehicle, which has a length of 17 metres and a passenger capacity of 140 people, can connect to other vehicles during its journey to adjust the passenger capacity as needed.
ForFuture makes it possible to build a tram consisting of three interconnected vehicles, offering a remarkable total capacity of up to 420 passengers. In suburban services, capacity can be increased to accommodate even more passengers. To facilitate precise connections between vehicles, the tram is equipped with a sophisticated support system that enables smooth and automatic connection of individual vehicles that also ensures no collisions. The interconnection of vehicles supports the efficient use of shared track sections between different tram lines, resulting in energy savings and environmental protection. Additionally, this solution enables fast and convenient transfers between tram lines, even when mobile.
This innovative rolling stock vehicle solution will provide efficient, reliable, and sustainable public transportation to shape the cities of the future. The vehicle design integrates a positive lighting idea that instils confidence in autonomous vehicles, and neutral vertical lights are combined with a friendly smile and warning signals to ensure effective communication with both drivers and pedestrians. This comprehensive lighting system enhances road safety and interaction, fostering a harmonious coexistence between the tram and its surroundings. The project was created with technical support of Skoda Group company.
