Background & Design Oppurtunity :Most furniture in schools is made of wood or plywood. Though care is taken to have no sharp corners, over time and with use the wood starts to chip off, leaving splinters and sharp edgesClassroom furniture is generally static and monotonous, designed only to be seated uponThough addition of colour helps, it still does not improve the stdent's experience Objective :To re-design classroom furniture to be dynamic, safe and used to enhance the learning experience

Selected Concepts :Simple elements, basic shapes, pure clean forms Seating designs made using combinations of simple basic triangular and cylindrical shapesCan be grouped together in different combinations to offer multiple seating and storage options

Concept 1 

Concept Detailing : Seating made of EVA foam with wood inserts which act as stiffeners and attractive, versatile storage The wooden inserts are completely encased by the EVA foam so there is no danger of wood chippingor sharp edgesThese chairs can also be grouped together in different formations for alternate seating
