5A1 (SAI)The infinity room divider패스트 한 소비문화로 인해 쉽게 소모되고 낭비되는 제품이 늘어남에 따라 소비 사이클의 장기화를 위해 사용자와 제품 사이의 쓰임새와 애착에 집중하였다. 사람과 사람이 소통하는 모습을 모티브로 룸 디바이더의 유닛이 서로 소통하는 형태를 은유적으로 표현하였다. 사람과 사람 ‘사이’는 자신을 발견하고 자각하게 한다. 이를 사물에 적용해본다면 사물과 사물의 ‘사이’의 관계는 끊임없는 형태와 쓰임새를 만들어낸다.In my recent design, the most important thing I think about was the sustainability of the product. As more new product designs are coming out, I feel a sense of responsibility as a designer.Many products on the market nowadays use materials that are easily damagable and intentionally use materials that have lower product life expectancy for short consumption cycles. This has led to more environmental problems, with more materials consumed and wasted. I believe that good design in the future requires a sense of responsibility to see the future yet also reflect on the past.

사람과 사람 사이의 소통하는 모습을 모티브로 제작된 '사이'는, 유닛이 서로 소통하는 형태를 모방한다. 유닛은 서로 마주하고 소통하며 새로운 쓰임새와 모양새를 만들어 낸다. 기본적인 룸 디바이더의 역할뿐 아니라 생활 가구의 여러 역할을 해 낼 수 있도록 고안되었다. 5가지의 유닛으로 무한한 조합을 이끌어 낼 수 있다.'5A1' is inspired by the process of communication between people. It is said that people form and grow their ego in relationships with others. By applying this to objects, I imagined the process of meeting and communicating between objects and communication between objects and people. We observed that attachment is formed when the user directly assigns a use to an object rather than the already given use.

'사이'는 기본적인 룸 디바이더의 역할을 하면서도 쓰임새를 한정 짓지 않는다. 사용자가 직접 사용하면서 필요한 모듈을 구매하여 다양한 쓰임새를 만들어 낼 수 있다.  다음날 입을 옷을 걸어 두기도 하고 거울을 설치하여 전신거울로 사용하기도 한다. 소비자가 제품의 사용성을 부여하면서 제품의 수명은 늘어나고 불필요한 소비를 막는다. 한 제품으로도 다양한 쓰임새를 발견하고 다양하게 사용하는 모습을 기대할 수 있다.'5A1' serves as a basic room divider, but does not limit its use. Users can purchase the necessary modules to reconfigure it for a wide range of use : whether it be a hanger for their next day outfit, or a full-length mirror through installation of multiple modules. By giving consumers the flexibility to reconfigure our product for a wide range of usage, we are able to extend the product life cycle, and discourage unnecessary purchases. Expect the consumers to discover and experience various ways to utilize one truly versatile product.
