Living Coffin
Biodegradable coffin

We live in a world in which dead matter is often valued more than living organisms. Even when we die, we leave a scar behind on our beautiful planet, as current burial processes lead to large-scale material depletion, CO2 emissions, and soil pollution. We see ourselves as waste, whereas we could be compost. This is the world’s first living coffin. Made from fungi, it enables people to enrich the soil and provide nutrients for new plant growth. Fungi are nature’s great recycler and the driving force in the earth’s end-of-life cycle due to their ability to transform organic matter and toxins into new life.

我们生活在一个无生命物质比活生物体更有价值的世界里。即使我们死后，也会为这颗美丽星球的生态带来负面影响。目前的埋葬过程会导致大规模的材料消耗、二氧化碳排放和土壤污染。人类自认为在逝去后不会产生任何价值，其实我们还可以起到滋养生命的作用。这是世界上第一个由蘑菇制成的活棺材，它可以让逝者为土壤带来营养，并帮助新的幼苗茁壮成长。蘑菇被称为自然界最大的回收者，由于它能够将有机物和毒素转化为新生命，因此是地球生命末期循环的驱动力。
