Heer is the first design-driven solution to the controversy of breastfeeding in public. It occupies the middle ground between natural needs and often antagonistic cultural norms, as well as comfort and discretion. With Heer, public spaces and entire cities will become friendlier and more accessible to mums and babies.
Although breastfeeding in public is increasingly accepted, many mothers still feel uneasy about it due to various cultural, psychological or personal reasons. On the other hand, places created for breastfeeding are often rare, poorly designed, isolated and uncomfortable. Above all, they reinforce the exclusion of mothers. As a bench, Heer rotates, so mums can choose a position that suits them best. Heer also gently rocks to help lull baby to sleep. It even provides privacy shields for mums who need it or protect babies from distractions.
Heer is a small oasis for mums and babies. Instead of isolating mums, Heer empowers mums to stay in whatever environment they want to be in; if the mother has company or another child, they can sit next to her too. Its design extends beyond a place for breastfeeding, but feeding in general. Its shape allows it to be quickly installed in and adjusted for a variety of spaces.
