Shanghai AI Tower&Plaza
architecture and urban design

This project is a redevelopment of Shanghai’s Longhua International Airport. Its uniquely designed architecture results in cleaner air and channels wind turbulence, making the area more comfortable and mitigating heat island effect. All design elements were calibrated with respect to the wind and to optimize people-friendly attributes. Towers are shaped, rounded, and fitted with "skirts" to channel wind flow to the urban areas behind them. Easily accessible public spaces provide urban recreation points. The site’s old runway was converted into a wide "green space" to honor its history, while boosting community livability.
