House Fall is an environment education concept in a stacked-block game not unlike Jenga. There are five components to the game: blocks, cards, the tumbler, the living tree, and a dice. Different meanings are ascribed to the blocks and each block represents one of these elements: ‘Earth’ (water, geology, oil blocks) and ‘houses’ (low-rise and high-rise housing). To increase the game difficulty, ‘natural disaster’ cards call for effects caused by damage to geology structures and stability. The one living tree represents the last of our earth and it must be kept in balance.
Before the game starts, the ‘earth’ blocks are stacked in rows of 3 to form a tower. The tumbler sits on this ‘earth’ tower. The houses and trees are then placed on the rocking tumbler, which symbolise the unseen factors that are damaging our environment. The game kicks off by rolling the dice with six different instructions to move up the game: take out an oil block, take out water block, draw a card, build a house, rotate and pass. Points are deducted if a house falls; the game is over when the living tree falls.
